The Daiku picture frame is the result of a beautiful merging of the classic Japanese craftsmanship tradition and the simple, streamlined design that we are familiar with from the Nordic way of designing. Daiku exudes aesthetic refinement and functionality that will complement any style of interior decor.
Daiku picture frames by Gejst capture the essence of Japanese carpentry and woodworking. Inspired by centuries-old Japanese techniques such as Kumiko and Sashimono, the frames appear as if they are assembled entirely without the use of nails. The Japanese technique Kumiko is a special way of joining carved wooden pieces to create a complex pattern that stays in place through pressure. In the Sashimono technique, wooden pieces are joined using wooden dowels inserted into grooves cut into the wood. This way, two pieces of wood are connected in a blind joint that is not visible from the front. Although Daiku frames are assembled with screws, from the front, it appears that the frames are put together using these ancient Japanese techniques.
The name "Daiku" comes from the Japanese word for carpenter, and it accurately reflects the careful attention to detail and craftsmanship invested in the frames.
In addition to the clear Japanese inspiration, Daiku picture frames also have a Nordic expression. Made from beautifully crafted oak wood and featuring floating glass pieces, the frames radiate Nordic minimalism and elegance. The light finish and simple, clean design make Daiku picture frames versatile and suitable for any home. Each frame consists of four carefully selected oak wood parts holding onto two clear glass pieces, creating the impression that the art is suspended between the four pieces of oak wood. The glass pieces are larger than the wooden frame, so the frame cuts into the glass, allowing for various expressions depending on what is placed in the frame.
