Marion Fortat

Born in France and based in Copenhagen, Denmark, Marion Fortat creates thoughtful, functional objects for the home, with a particular focus on tableware, glassware and home accessories - pieces shaped by everyday use and a lasting presence.

Specialised in glass design, she graduated from the Institute of Product Design in 2009 at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (KADK) in Copenhagen. Her design process begins with the material - glass - and a fascination with its behaviour. Drawing on her experience in glassblowing and handmade techniques, she explores how the material responds to form, light and the imprint of the maker’s hand.

Her practice spans the entire design process, from early concepts to finished products, balancing aesthetic clarity with material integrity across both handcrafted and industrial contexts. With a strong passion for handmade products, her approach is rooted in a deep understanding of materials and craftsmanship. Believing that impactful product design is rooted in understanding how things are made, she works across materials and production methods, bridging craft traditions and contemporary design processes.
